These are the duty time limits under FAR 117 for unaugmented crews, which is most domestic scheduled operations.  Remember that these are flight duty period limitations and not duty period.  This means that things like tail-end deadheads, debrief time (usually fifteen minutes) do not count towards this limit.

These times may be extended up to two hours, but only once between 30 hours rest periods.  Also, that extension is at the discretion of the Pilot in Command.

It’s also worth knowing that these limits may be slightly different for reserves when you consider the reserve availability period.
